Kuala Lumpur: Batik Air has announced the cancellation of its flights to and from Lahore, Pakistan, and Amritsar, India, for today and tomorrow, following the ongoing situation between both countries.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the affected flights include KUL-LHE (OD 131) and LHE-KUL (OD 132) on May 7 and 8, with departures at 5.35 pm and 9.35 pm respectively, as well as KUL-ATQ (OD 271) and ATQ-KUL (OD 272) on May 7, departing at 6.40 pm and 11.05 pm respectively.
In a statement today, Batik Air emphasized that the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew remain its highest priority. The airline is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant authorities and plans to provide timely updates as new information becomes available. Batik Air has apologized for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding of its passengers.
Rising tensions between India and Pakistan have been escalating since last month, reaching a peak early Wednesday with reports of both sides launching cross-border airstrikes. Additionally, exchanges of artillery fire between Indian and Pakistani forces have been reported along the Line of Control, which divides the Kashmir region between the two countries.
