Kuala lumpur: Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat) continues its Ramadan commitment in empowering communities with nationwide corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives worth over RM300,000, benefiting more than 7,000 people.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative, themed "Ramadan Terindah, Bersama" (A Beautiful Ramadan, Together), was carried out through a series of welfare programmes from February to March 2026. These programmes focused on providing necessities, sharing blessings, and fostering stronger community ties.
In a statement today, Bank Muamalat detailed key initiatives which included grocery kit donations to underprivileged families, communal bubur lambuk cooking, iftar packs for media and frontliners, and visits and iftar with orphans across four major regions in the country.
The Ramadan Kit programme, launched on February 10 across all 14 states, aimed to provide essential goods to underprivileged families and welfare organisations, helping to ease their expenses ahead of Ramadan. The bubur lambuk cooking programme, which ran from February 23 to March 12, brought together Bank Muamalat staff and volunteers nationwide to celebrate togetherness and strengthen ties with local communities.
Bank Muamalat also distributed over 1,500 iftar packs to media practitioners and frontliners in the central region and hosted 50 media friends in the Sembang Santai Moreh Bersama Bank Muamalat programme.
The Ziarah Ramadan programme reached eight orphanages in the central region, providing donations and interactive activities that brought joy to the children. Additionally, iftar events were held in Kelantan, Penang, Johor, and Kuching, bringing together 205 orphans and asnaf children from six welfare homes to celebrate Ramadan in a warm and joyful atmosphere.
Bank Muamalat president and chief executive officer Datuk Khairul Kamarudin emphasized that the initiative underscores the bank's commitment to empowering communities in line with maqasid al-shariah (the objectives of Islamic law). He noted that Ramadan is a month that reminds people of empathy, compassion, and social responsibility. Through the Ramadan Terindah, Bersama initiative, Bank Muamalat aims not just to provide aid but to truly make a difference in the lives of those in need.
He further stated that Islamic financial institutions should go beyond banking services, serving as catalysts for community well-being and supporting the overall development of society. The nationwide programmes highlighted the strong commitment of Bank Muamalat staff to volunteering, reinforcing a culture of compassion, integrity, and togetherness.
