Bank Muamalat Becomes First ASNB Agent To Offer ASNB Wakaf Services

Kuala Lumpur: Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd has become the first Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) agent to serve as a distribution channel for ASNB Wakaf services. In a statement today, the bank announced that ASNB unit holders can now make ASNB Wakaf contributions conveniently at any Bank Muamalat branch nationwide, effective from yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initiative not only enhances accessibility but also strengthens the commitment of Bank Muamalat and ASNB to provide transparent and effective wakaf services. ASNB Wakaf allows unit holders to donate their ASNB unit trusts as wakaf, ensuring that the principal investment remains intact while the returns are directed towards wakaf projects aimed at community and ummah development. This service is managed by ASNB Wakalah Sdn Bhd, a wakaf management institution responsible for overseeing the entire wakaf fund process, from collecting donations to distributing the wakaf benefit funds to those in need.

Bank Muamalat president and chief executive officer Khairul Kamarudin stated that the collaboration offers Bank Muamalat an opportunity to expand its services by providing Islamic financial solutions with significant social impact to create a better life together. He emphasized that the addition to their portfolio as the first ASNB agent for ASNB Wakaf enables them to facilitate public contributions through investments in ASNB unit trusts that can be wakafed.

Khairul further noted that to encourage public participation in wakaf, the first 100 wakaf contributors who make ASNB Wakaf donations through Bank Muamalat will receive a RM30 Touch’ n Go e-wallet voucher. He highlighted that offering ASNB Wakaf through Bank Muamalat reflects their commitment to empowering the Islamic financial system.
