Bandar Sungai Petani Health Clinic Set to Reduce Hospital Strain

Bandar Sungai Petani:The new Bandar Sungai Petani Health Clinic is anticipated to alleviate the outpatient service congestion at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) once it becomes operational.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the clinic, equipped with modern facilities, will serve approximately 500,000 residents in Kuala Muda and handle up to 1,200 patients daily. The transfer of minor cases and Green Zone patients to this clinic will enable HSAH to concentrate on more complex specialist, emergency, and trauma care.

Dr Dzulkefly announced a special allocation of RM398,800 to support the clinic’s operations through repairs, facility upgrades, and the acquisition of necessary medical and non-medical equipment. He accepted the handover of the RM38.73 million project from the Public Works Department (JKR) today.

The Type 2 Health Clinic aims to provide extensive outpatient services and accommodate about 500 to 800 patients daily, easing the pressure on nearby hospitals. Dr Dzulkefly emphasized the importance of thorough preparation for the clinic's phased opening beginning on October 11, including efficient asset management and addressing defects under the Defects Liability Period.

He also instructed officials to urgently consider a proposal for a 150-vehicle multi-storey car park to accommodate the expected high number of patients, enhancing visitor convenience.

Dr Dzulkefly highlighted that the project's success is not defined by its cost or appearance but by the speed of patient treatment and the quality of care provided. He stressed that modern facilities must be supported by compassion, empathy, and professionalism.
