Ban on Pets in Selangor Shopping Malls Continues, Says State Exco

Shah alam: The ban on bringing pets into shopping malls in Selangor remains in place, as confirmed by Datuk Ng Suee Lim, the chairman of the state Local Government and Tourism Committee. The policy, which aims to maintain community harmony, will undergo a review by the state government to evaluate the existing guidelines.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ng emphasized Selangor's status as a developed state with international standards, acknowledging that some countries have pet-friendly policies that allow pets in various public spaces, including shopping malls. However, he highlighted the need to consider Selangor's multi-racial culture before adopting similar measures. The decision comes in light of the actions of a Klang Valley shopping mall that permits visitors to bring pets into its premises.

Ng made these remarks during the Op Terjah Public Cleaning initiative at Section 7, an event also attended by Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir, managing director of KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd.
