Kuala lumpur: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is fielding its strongest line-up for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, scheduled to start from Dec 9-20.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the list released by the sports governing body today includes all the champions in their respective categories. Among those slated to compete in the biennial games are two world champions: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in men’s doubles and Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei in mixed doubles. Also on the roster is the 2025 world women’s doubles runner-up pair, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah.
Aaron-Wooi Yik hold the distinction of being gold medalists from the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, while Tang Jie also secured a gold medal when he teamed up with Peck Yen Wei during the 2021 edition in Vietnam.
The 2025 SEA Games will also see representation from Leong Jun Hao and Justin Hoh in men’s singles, and K. Letshanaa and Wong Ling Ching in women’s singles.
BAM is also placing its trust in the men’s doubles team of Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, the women’s doubles team of Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing, and the mixed doubles team of Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin to uphold the nation’s badminton prowess at the SEA Games.
In the 2023 SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Malaysia, which participated with a reserve squad, managed to secure two silver and four bronze medals.
The 2025 SEA Games are planned to be held across three regions: Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.
