Kuala lumpur: The film ‘Babah’ made a significant impact at the 34th Malaysia Film Festival (FFM34), claiming six awards, including the prestigious Best Film award. The event took place at the Seri Angkasa Auditorium, Angkasapuri Kota Media, and saw ‘Babah’ surpass four other finalists – ‘Soloz: Game of Life’, ‘Takluk: Lahad Datu’, and ‘Reversi’ – to secure the top honor. The Best Film award also came with a Creative Content Fund incentive of RM1,000,000 and a trophy.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the awards were presented by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. The event was attended by notable figures including Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chairman Datuk Hans Isaac, and Finas CEO Datuk Azmir Saifuddin. Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) CEO Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin was also present.
The stars of ‘Babah’, Qi Razali and Sweet Qismina, were recognized with the Best Actor and Best Actress awards, respectively. The film also received accolades for Best Screenplay and Best Original Story, while director Mohd Shah Faizul Ibrahim was awarded Most Promising Director.
In addition to ‘Babah’, ‘Blood Brothers: Bara Naga’ also received significant recognition, winning six awards, including the Special Box Office Award, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Stunt Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Theme Song. ‘Ejen Ali The Movie 2’ and ‘Takluk: Lahad Datu’ were honored with Special Jury Awards. Veteran actor Datuk Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the film industry.
Award recipients at FFM34 received RM5,000 and a trophy, while Special Award winners received RM10,000 and a trophy. The comprehensive list of winners highlights the diverse talent in the Malaysian film industry, celebrating achievements across various aspects of filmmaking.
