Azeem Suffers Injury in Asian Games 100m Final

Nagoya:National sprinter Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi's attempt to defend his bronze medal in the Asian Games men's 100-meter event was thwarted by an injury during the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games final.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Azeem, aged 22, completed the race in eighth place with a time of 14.65 seconds after sustaining an injury midway through at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium. Despite his injury, Azeem managed to finish the race but collapsed afterwards and required medical attention.

This result meant Azeem could not replicate his bronze medal performance from the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.

In the same event, Thailand's Puripol Boonson claimed victory with a time of 9.90 seconds, breaking his own Asian Games record of 9.91 seconds set earlier in the semi-finals. Oman‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¾¢s Ali Al Balushi secured the silver medal with a time of 10.04 seconds, while Malham Al Balushi, also from Oman, took the bronze with an identical time.
