Kuala lumpur: Datuk Awalan Abdul Aziz will continue to helm the Malaysia Lawn Bowls Federation (MLBF) for another two years after being returned unopposed as president for the 2025-2027 term.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the decision was made at the federation’s 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the National Lawn Bowls Centre in Bukit Kiara, here, today. This marks Awalan’s third term as the MLBF president since he was first elected to the position for the 2021-2023 term and continued his leadership for a second term from 2023-2025.
“Under Datuk Awalan’s leadership, lawn bowls has grown to great heights with remarkable achievements. It is without a doubt that Datuk Awalan’s leadership has been instrumental in the sport’s strong showing globally,” the MLBF stated. Malaysia’s notable achievements under Awalan include being the overall champions of the recently-concluded World Cup 2025, securing a gold and three bronze medals, and finishing ahead of traditional powerhouses like Australia, England, New Zealand, Scotland, and Wales.
Meanwhile, the other top two posts in the federation-deputy president and vice president-also remained unchanged as the incumbents were returned unopposed. Tengku Datin Seri Noor Hazah Tengku Abdul Aziz and Datuk Tun Ahmad Faisal Tun Abdul Razak retained their positions as deputy presidents, while Rustam Affandi Maktar and Shuib Hashim continued as vice-presidents.
