Shah Alam:Avisena Healthcare has inaugurated its Orthopaedics, Trauma and Spine (OTS) Centre of Excellence at Avisena Specialist Hospital and Avisena Specialist Hospital 2, aiming to enhance specialist care.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Razman Abd Karim, CEO of Avisena Specialist Hospital, stated that this initiative addresses the evolving healthcare needs driven by demographic shifts, with the population aged 65 and above projected to reach 8% by the end of 2025.
Dr. Razman highlighted that the OTS Centre of Excellence will cater to the increased demand for mobility, musculoskeletal, and trauma-related healthcare services. The centre will provide comprehensive care, including diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, by uniting specialists from various medical disciplines to ensure coordinated patient care.
The centre emphasizes measuring clinical outcomes as part of Avisena's dedication to clinical excellence. Dr. Razman noted the importance of continuous performance evaluation against established standards and openness to independent assessments for the CoE's recognition.
Additionally, the OTS Centre offers an integrated care pathway with services in consultation, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, covering areas like joint replacement, sports injuries, spinal conditions, and orthopaedic oncology. The multidisciplinary team includes experts such as orthopaedic surgeons, emergency physicians, anaesthetists, and physiotherapists, all supported by advanced medical technology and rehabilitation services.
