Atlas Copco Group Invests RM10 Mln In New Shah Alam Hub

Shah alam: Atlas Copco Group has invested about RM10 million in a new headquarters and integrated facility in Alam Impian here, as part of its expansion in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Khalid Shaikh, Atlas Copco Malaysia and Singapore's general manager of Compressor Technique Business Area, said the facility, built on a 1.21-hectare site, will serve as a central hub for its operations in Malaysia and the region, supporting key business functions as well as a regional shared finance services centre.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the investment reflects the group's long-term commitment to Malaysia since establishing its presence in 1982, as the new facility will also coordinate operations across its sites in Kuantan, Penang, and Johor, enhancing operational efficiency and regional integration. 'We are proud to open this new integrated facility in Shah Alam today. Atlas Copco Group's presence in the country began in 1982 with just 10 employees and has grown into a team of over 250 today. The facility improves how we serve customers through faster coordination and more efficient delivery. It also reinforces our focus on developing local talent and building long-term capabilities,' he said after the official opening of the Atlas Copco Integrated Hub here, today.

Also present were Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Selangor director, Sherulanuar Abd Karim; Sweden's Ambassador to Malaysia, Niklas Wiberg; and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Selangor and Kuala Lumpur Branch chairperson, Dr. Helena Eian Yeut Lian. Khalid said the decision to establish the facility in Shah Alam was driven by its proximity to key industrial zones as well as strong connectivity to Port Klang, Kuala Lumpur, major highways, and the upcoming Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3).

He said apart from enhancing operational efficiency, the new headquarters is also expected to support talent growth and workforce expansion. 'This strengthens logistics and service delivery while making it more accessible to customers, partners, and employees. Atlas Copco Group plans to hire an additional 80 to 100 employees over the next five years, particularly in service, sales, and marketing roles,' he said.

Elaborating further, Khalid said ongoing global geopolitical tensions present opportunities for foreign investors to expand into Southeast Asia, particularly Malaysia. Meanwhile, Sherulanuar said the agency will continue to support companies that contribute to productivity growth, skills development, and long-term industrial competitiveness, further strengthening Malaysia's position as a regional industrial hub.

'Malaysia continues to position itself as a key regional hub for advanced industrial investment, and we are pleased to see continued effort from global players in strengthening their presence here,' he said. He said the investment is aligned with Malaysia's New Industrial Master Plan 2030, which focuses on advancing higher-value industrial activities and strengthening the country's industrial ecosystem.
