Hangzhou: The national men’s and women’s rugby sevens (7s) squads will compete in the fifth-to-eighth placing classification matches of the 2025 Asia Rugby Sevens Series after completing their group stage campaigns in Hangzhou, China, today. The men’s team finished second in Group A with two wins against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) 21-15 and Uzbekistan 21-12, before going down heavily to Hong Kong 0-59.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Bunga Raya 7s squad, coached by Nik Safuan Ismade Nik Man, are scheduled to take on Taiwan in the knockout round tomorrow. Meanwhile, the women’s team ended their Group D campaign in third place with one win over Sri Lanka (24-14) and two defeats, namely to UAE (7-22) and China (0-34), setting up a clash against Kazakhstan tomorrow.

As a note, only the bottom two teams will be eliminated from the tournament and relegated to the Asia Rugby Sevens Challenge Trophy.
