ASEAN Summit Rehearsal Prompts Traffic Diversions in Capital

Kuala lumpur: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will implement phased traffic diversions and dispersal measures across several major roads in the capital from 8 am to 7.45 pm tomorrow, as part of a full rehearsal for the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits. Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri emphasized the importance of these rehearsals, which are set to continue until Friday, to ensure the smooth and orderly movement of official delegations during the actual event.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the public is advised to avoid the affected routes during the rehearsal, adhere to the instructions of traffic personnel and temporary signboards, and consider using public transport. The road closures will occur twice during the day, from 8 am to 8.45 am, and from 7 pm to 7.45 pm. These closures are necessary to ensure the flawless execution of route management, personnel deployment, and convoy movements for the international delegates.

Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri further explained that 1,111 traffic police officers and personnel have been deployed for these purposes. They will be responsible for traffic control, VIP escort duties, and enforcement operations throughout the summit period.
