Kuala lumpur: Newly elected Prime Ministers, Anutin Charnvirakul of Thailand and Sanae Takaichi of Japan, are among leaders arriving today ahead of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits slated to take place here over the weekend. Other leaders expected to touch down are President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr of the Philippines, Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone of Laos and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong of Singapore.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, European Council President Antonio Costa and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney are also expected later today. The 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits are bringing together leaders from 10 ASEAN member states and dialogue partners, including the United States, China, Japan and India.
Under Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship theme of ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’, the summit is set to be one of the largest in ASEAN’s history, serving as a crucial platform to deepen regional collaboration and address global challenges in a cohesive and inclusive manner.
