ASEAN Power Grid Trade Mechanism Shaped by Participating Countries

Kuala lumpur: The trade mechanism and pricing details for the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) initiative are decided by the countries involved, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof announced. Currently, there is no specific framework that ASEAN countries are mandated to follow for this initiative.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof emphasized that the APG allows for energy trade among ASEAN countries, facilitating energy sharing while requiring specific trade agreements and mechanisms. He highlighted a successful example with the power integration project involving Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, suggesting this concept could serve as a model for future arrangements.

The Deputy Prime Minister shared these insights during a press meeting at the Malam Warisan Budaya Bangsa MADANI Berkhidmat: Misi Sukarelawan Siswa YSS-ASEAN Ke Sarawak 2025 dinner event.
