Kuala lumpur: The ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Interface with Representatives of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) was convened as a significant precursor to the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. This session, held from 2pm to 3pm on July 8, 2025, was chaired by Malaysia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan. Attendees included the Foreign Ministers from ASEAN Member States, along with the Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste, who participated as an observer.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initial engagement marked the beginning of the 58th ASEAN Ministers Meeting (AMM) calendar. The Interface was pivotal in setting the agenda for Malaysia’s Chairmanship, focusing on the principles of inclusivity and sustainability. This meeting underscored the importance of collaboration and dialogue in addressing human rights issues within the ASEAN region.
