According to BERNAMA News Agency, Harimau Malaya interim head coach Tan Cheng Hoe hinted that Wan Kuzain could fill the vacancy in midfield as part of a new combination he has planned for the must-win match at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras, with a 9 pm kickoff. The team is dealing with injuries, including that of defender Jimmy Raymond, who was hurt during the August 1 match against Thailand, which Malaysia lost 2-0. Cheng Hoe expressed that Wan Kuzain has settled in well with the team and has shown promising form, leading him to consider changes to the starting lineup.

The presence of the 27-year-old midfielder alongside Cheng Hoe at a pre-match press conference further fueled speculation about his inclusion in the starting XI. Cheng Hoe emphasized the importance of discipline and focus for his players as they face the Philippines in this crucial match.
