Arrest Of Preacher: Public Urged To Withhold Judgment, Not Speculate Against MACC

Ipoh: The public is advised to refrain from making negative speculations about the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) following its actions against individuals, including religious figures, over alleged abuse of power or corruption.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Deputy Mufti Datuk Zamri Hashim expressed concern over recent cases involving individuals described as Islamic preachers but emphasized the importance of allowing the commission to conduct its investigations. He urged trust in the transparency of the MACC and related agencies, stating that it is within their jurisdiction and expertise to handle such matters.

Zamri also highlighted that the public should refrain from criticizing the agency, as its actions are based on investigation results. He cautioned against passing judgment on individuals detained or under investigation, underscoring that allegations must be proven before any conclusions are drawn. He reiterated that the accused should not be presumed guilty, and it is the responsibility of the investigating authorities and the courts to determine the truth.

Furthermore, Zamri discussed the implementation of the Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) 2026-2030, noting that it is not a temporary initiative but part of a continuous commitment. In its first phase, 79 initiatives were executed, with the second phase set to introduce 25 more targeted and impactful initiatives.
