Kuala Lumpur: Application for the ASEAN Goods Vehicle Cross-Border Permit (AGVCBP), as required under the ASEAN Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Inter-State Transport (AFAFIST), opens today. The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) announced that the permit allows approved licensed transport operators to conduct cross-border operations involving the movement of goods vehicles between two adjacent ASEAN member countries.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initiative is seen as a strategic move aimed at strengthening economic integration within the ASEAN region. The agreement reflects the commitment of ASEAN countries to enhance regional economic integration and aims to facilitate the movement of goods vehicles. This, in turn, is expected to reduce trade barriers and improve logistics and trade efficiency between ASEAN nations.
The statement from APAD emphasized that the agreement would make the ASEAN region more competitive on a global scale, thus benefiting the economic landscape of the member countries. Potential applicants are encouraged to apply for the permit to leverage the opportunities presented by this cross-border facilitation.
