APM Personnel Urged To Be Prepared For Any Eventualities During Southwest Monsoon

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel have been urged to remain prepared for any eventualities during the current Southwest Monsoon phase. APM chief commissioner Mohammad Abiddin Abd Rahman emphasized the importance of being adaptive and proactive, leveraging their training and experience to ensure a swift response when needed.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohammad Abiddin Abd Rahman expressed confidence that various preparatory measures have been undertaken by all APM personnel. These measures include conducting a range of training programs for both members and local communities, aimed at reducing disaster risks to lives and property. He made these remarks at the Federal Territories (FT) APM assembly, attended by FT Civil Defence director Mohd Rosman Abdullah.

The Southwest Monsoon began on May 14 and is expected to continue until September, marked by consistent winds blowing from the southwest towards the region. Recently, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) director-general Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip noted that lower humidity levels during this period typically result in reduced cloud formation across most areas. This condition is expected to lead to lower rainfall distribution across the country, with more dry days than rainy days.

Mohammad Abiddin Abd Rahman also urged APM personnel to remain resilient and committed in carrying out their responsibilities and daily duties in service of religion, nation, and country. He emphasized the importance of enhancing skills and knowledge, while strengthening integrity and team spirit. He stated, 'We are not merely a rescue force, but also a pillar of national resilience trusted by the people.'
