Anwar’s Diplomacy Aims to Ease West Asia Tensions, Says Abang Jo

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's diplomatic initiatives to alleviate tensions in West Asia are anticipated to significantly influence global political and economic stability, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stated.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar has been actively engaging with leaders of Islamic countries to identify solutions for the escalating conflict in the region. Abang Johari noted that Anwar's involvement comes in response to requests from these leaders seeking ways to address critical issues influencing the global economy, particularly in the region. He expressed hopes that Anwar's ideas and encouragement would help calm the situation, as mentioned during the Sarawak-level MADANI 2026 breaking of fast event at the State Jamek Mosque, which Anwar also attended.

Abang Johari emphasized the importance of Anwar's efforts in reducing global geopolitical tensions and enhancing stability for the benefit of the international community. He highlighted that Anwar's capacity to undertake such a role is bolstered by Malaysia's domestic political stability and unity among its people. He noted that Malaysia is experiencing a peaceful environment with improving economic conditions, such as a strengthening currency and rising foreign investments.

Sarawak is also reaping the benefits of these positive developments, with an influx of foreign ambassadors and investors visiting the state to explore investment opportunities. Abang Johari mentioned that this unity and peaceful environment in Malaysia ensure that all citizens, regardless of race and belief, will benefit, embodying the spirit of 'segulai sejalai' (togetherness) in the country.

He further stated that strong national leadership allows the government to implement effective foreign and domestic policies, strengthening the country's economic position and social wellbeing. The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, and members of the Sarawak Cabinet.
