Shah alam: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called upon all state governments to adhere to the Federal Government's resolutions concerning the unauthorized construction of places of worship. He emphasized that such compliance is crucial for the nation's future safety and maturity.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted that while the principle of tolerance has its own significance, it should not be practiced without limits to the point of undermining national institutions and the rule of law. He stated that endless tolerance could weaken the nation. Anwar has communicated with state governments, including those led by opposition parties, urging them to put aside political differences and follow the clear policies set by the MADANI Government.
Anwar clarified that the decision regarding places of worship was made after more than two years of study and consultations with various stakeholders. This approach was taken to ensure fairness, alignment with the Constitution, and to prevent racial and religious tensions. He reiterated that Malaysia is a country governed by law and order, and exceptions should not be made.
During an address at the Ministry of Unity in Putrajaya, Anwar reiterated that the government would not permit the illegal construction of any worship site without adherence to regulations. He stressed that as a constitutional nation, Malaysia requires compliance with laws for the construction of places of worship.
In another note, Anwar commended Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari for effectively resolving the longstanding issue of pig farming in the state, despite political challenges.
