Putrajaya: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a farewell courtesy call from Chief of Defence Force Gen Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar at his office in Putrajaya today. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Mohd Nizam for his service, leadership, and dedication to the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar took to Facebook to acknowledge Mohd Nizam's contributions, emphasizing his role in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and security. Anwar's post highlighted the significance of Mohd Nizam's efforts throughout his tenure with the MAF.
Previously, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin confirmed Mohd Nizam's upcoming mandatory retirement upon reaching 60 years old next year. The minister also clarified that Mohd Nizam's retirement is unrelated to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) Ops Sohor investigations.
Mohd Nizam is set to begin his leave on January 1, 2026, prior to his official retirement in August.
