Malaysia: Malaysia has maintained its firm stance in condemning any acts of aggression and incursions in West Asia, including drone strikes as well as Israeli-United States military operations that have claimed innocent lives. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he conveyed this position to Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian during a telephone conversation today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar shared that he had the opportunity to speak with President Pezeshkian, extending Eid Mubarak greetings along with fraternal salutations and prayers from all Malaysians for the people of Iran. In his Facebook post, Anwar emphasized hope for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing tensions in Iran.
During the conversation, Anwar expressed appreciation for Iran's assistance in ensuring the release and safe passage of Malaysian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. He highlighted the importance of mutual respect and friendship in international relations, indicating a desire to strengthen these ties.
Anwar also mentioned that President Pezeshkian appreciated Malaysia's consistent stance on peace and justice at the international level. The Iranian President extended an invitation to Anwar to visit Tehran, aiming to further enhance bilateral ties and strategic cooperation between the two nations.
Anwar noted his intent to visit Iran when possible, expressing a personal connection to the country through friendships and a shared commitment to knowledge and humanitarian efforts.
