Anwar Praises Enforcement Agencies for Targeting High-Profile Individuals

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has acknowledged the commendable performance of enforcement agencies over the past two years, particularly in their actions against high-profile individuals.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted the efforts of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the Inland Revenue Board, and the Immigration Department, noting their strong commitment to executing their duties. "I think compared with the last two years, the performance of the effective enforcement has been quite commendable," Anwar stated. He added that the agencies have tackled significant cases involving former prime ministers and ministers, although he noted that he is not entirely satisfied and acknowledged the work that remains.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government is vigilant in monitoring Cabinet members and government officials to ensure accountability and integrity. Despite recognizing the systemic nature of corruption in Malaysia, he stressed the need for sustained efforts to tackle the issue and reaffirmed the government's dedication to pursuing anti-corruption measures. "I have made it very clear in my message that we will continue to pursue this," Anwar assured.
