Pontian:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his condolences over the tragic deaths of three siblings in a road accident in Pontian, Johor.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar conveyed his deepest sympathies to the victims' family in a Facebook post, praying for their strength and resilience during this difficult time. He also hoped that the deceased would be blessed and placed among the righteous.
The incident occurred around 7.20 am when the siblings, aged between eight and 18, were riding a motorcycle that collided with a lorry on Jalan Parit Haji Omar towards Kayu Ara Pasong. They were returning home after discovering the younger siblings' school was closed due to haze conditions.
Pontian district police chief Supt Hadzrat Hussein Mion Hussain reported that the pillion riders, aged eight and 11, died at the scene, while the 18-year-old rider succumbed to his injuries at Pontian Hospital. The 69-year-old lorry driver sustained injuries to his hands and knees.
