Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his condolences to the families of the six victims who were tragically killed in a road crash along Jalan Karak Lama in Bentong, Pahang, early yesterday. The accident has left the community in mourning, highlighting the critical importance of road safety.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a post on X today, Anwar expressed that both he and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, were deeply saddened by the incident. Anwar extended his heartfelt condolences to the victims' families, wishing them strength and fortitude during this difficult time. He also hoped for a speedy recovery for those injured.

The tragic incident occurred at approximately 4 am when six men lost their lives at the scene. They were traveling in a Toyota Vios that collided with a one-tonne lorry on Jalan Karak Lama, heading towards Temerloh, near Klink Desa Jambu Rias in Bentong. The victims were identified as the car driver, V. Mugilan, 25, and passengers K. Dineshvaran, 22, K. Alaganathan, 21, A. Kanabati Raja, 19, S. Kiisven, 17, and M. Paranthaman, 16. The 31-year-old lorry driver sustained serious injuries.

Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the victims' car was traveling from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur when it reportedly veered onto the opposite lane while descending a hill, leading to the collision with the lorry. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
