Anwar Ibrahim Praises Outgoing Chinese Ambassador for Strengthening Ties

Kuala Lumpur:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing, for his role in enhancing bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and China.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar extended his thanks during a farewell meeting with Ambassador Ouyang. He highlighted the robust relations forged in multiple sectors, including the economy, technology, education, and culture.

Anwar emphasized strategic collaboration in projects like the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), advancements in 5G technology, artificial intelligence, port development, and the rare earths industry, which have paved the way for mutual benefits.

He affirmed that Malaysia and China will continue to build on their longstanding friendship and explore new areas of cooperation for the prosperity of their peoples and regional peace. Anwar shared these reflections in a Facebook post.

During the meeting, Anwar was presented with a special gift from Chinese Premier Li Qianga book about Hangzhou, the city Anwar recently visited and Li's hometown. Anwar expressed his appreciation for this thoughtful gesture.

Anwar's visit to China, from September 22, included engagements such as the WorldSkills competition in Shanghai and the Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou, reflecting the focus on enhancing bilateral ties.
