Anwar Ibrahim Moved by Young Boy’s Determination to Meet Him

Segamat: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today shared the story of nine-year-old Muhammad Afif Ikhwan, who made a journey through an oil palm plantation with his grandmother to meet him.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the brief encounter with the boy during a programme at Felda Palong Timur in Segamat left a significant impression on the Prime Minister. Anwar was so touched that he arranged for a bicycle to be delivered to Afif as a gesture of goodwill.

The Prime Minister recounted that what seemed like a small dream for Afif was significant enough for his grandmother, Rosimah Mohammad, to undertake a motorcycle ride through the plantation to fulfill her grandson's wish. During the event, Afif's hand reached through the crowd, and Anwar shook his hand before inviting him onto the stage.

Anwar expressed his surprise that the brief interaction held such importance for Afif, as he mentioned in a Facebook post. He emphasized the importance of maintaining compassion and humanity, even while managing national affairs and facing challenges.

Anwar also expressed his hope that the encounter would inspire Afif to pursue his education and contribute positively to his family, community, and country in the future.

Yesterday, it was reported that Rosimah, 58, from Kampung Pudu, Segamat, navigated the plantation tracks on a motorcycle solely to grant her grandson the chance to see the Prime Minister in person.
