Anwar Extends Aid to Family Affected by Landslide in Putatan, Sabah

Putatan: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today handed over a contribution to Melvin Funk, whose home was affected by a landslide in Kampung Duvanson, Putatan, Sabah, yesterday. The initial cash assistance was handed over by the Prime Minister’s political secretary, Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, when he visited the family.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuan Awang Husaini Sahari, who is also a local community leader, joined Ahmad Farhan and the Sabah Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) to assess the immediate actions needed at the site. Ahmad Farhan delivered the Prime Minister’s cash aid as initial assistance to the affected family.

Ahmad Farhan reported that no lives were lost in the incident, though the impact on the family was significant. He shared in a Facebook post, also disseminated by Anwar, that the house, built with the family’s savings over many years, was destroyed instantly when the landslide struck around 10 pm.

At the time of the incident, all four family members were inside the house but managed to escape after feeling the tremor and hearing a loud crash from the rear of the property. ‘May this family remain resilient and be granted the strength to face this trial,’ Ahmad Farhan added.
