Kota kinabalu: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took time this morning to engage with traders and visitors during a walkabout and breakfast session at Kota Kinabalu’s renowned Gaya Street morning market.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar arrived at the market at 8.35 am, where he was welcomed by Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah. The market, also known as ‘Tamu Gaya Street,’ is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Accompanying Anwar were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, who is also the Sabah PKR chairman.

Anwar spent approximately an hour mingling with traders and visitors after receiving a briefing from DBKK officials. The Prime Minister later enjoyed a breakfast of ‘nasi lemak’ at a nearby restaurant before proceeding to the Sabah International Convention Centre to officiate the ‘Rancakkan MADANI Sabah’ programme.

Visitor Robert Lius, 56, expressed his surprise and excitement at meeting the Prime Minister. “I came with my family to shop and did not know the Prime Minister would be here. I feel lucky to have met him,” he said.
