Johannesburg: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim utilized the opportunity during a dinner event at the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit to engage in discussions on pressing global geopolitical issues with several prominent world leaders. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar held talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov. He also met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The conversations focused on the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as well as rising tensions in West Asia. Anwar emphasized the need for unity among global leaders and citizens to put an end to the violence and strive for a just and enduring resolution. He expressed these sentiments in a post on his social media account. The Prime Minister's attendance at the BRICS Summit marks his second offi cial visit to India as Prime Minister, following his initial trip in August 2024. He will extend his working visit to Keralam, a state in southern India, before departing for the Maldives tomorrow, September 14.
