Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim engaged in a late-night phone conversation with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Thani, focusing on recent developments in Gaza.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the call was centered around the ongoing ceasefire violations by the Israeli regime, which appear to undermine the agreement brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. Anwar expressed his appreciation for Sheikh Mohammed’s relentless efforts to halt the violence against the people of Gaza and to strive for lasting peace.
In his Facebook post, Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and the illegal settlement in Gaza. He emphasized Malaysia’s dedication to providing humanitarian aid and backing efforts for a sustainable resolution to the conflict.
During a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was visiting Malaysia, Anwar reiterated Malaysia’s support for Palestine. He warned against superficial diplomatic actions that do not address the root causes of the conflict, underlining the need for genuine and effective solutions.
