Amogy Secures US$15 Mln Strategic Investment from GS E&C to Advance Ammonia-to-Power Solutions

Kuala lumpur: Amogy, a provider of ammonia-to-power solutions, has secured a US$15 million strategic investment from South Korea’s GS Engineering and Construction (GS E and C) and affiliated venture investors XPLOR and GS Futures. (US$1 = RM4.15)

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this latest funding brings Amogy’s total capital raised since inception to US$315 million, with nearly US$100 million raised over the past year to support ammonia-based power generation projects in key global markets.

Amogy co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Seonghoon Woo, expressed gratitude for partnering with globally leading investors like GS E and C, which aligns with Amogy’s mission. Meanwhile, GS E and C Chief Data Officer, Jin-Hong Huh, emphasized that the investment is not just financial but represents a strategic collaboration to build a carbon-free ammonia energy ecosystem with Amogy.

The investment further strengthens the existing partnership between Amogy and GS E and C to advance carbon-free distributed energy systems. This includes a commercial pilot project in Pohang, South Korea, aiming to deploy an ammonia-based distributed power generation system by 2026, with plans to scale up to 40 megawatts during the full commercial phase in 2028-2029.

Amogy brings breakthrough ammonia-to-power technology and agility, while GS E and C contributes extensive engineering, procurement, and construction expertise across energy, infrastructure, and smart city projects. Together, they aim to accelerate the commercialization and large-scale deployment of ammonia-to-power solutions worldwide.

Amogy’s solutions enable clean power generation both off-grid and on-grid. In addition to Pohang, the company recently partnered with Singapore’s A*STAR to explore ammonia-based power development, focusing on decarbonizing the country’s data center industry. The company also expanded its presence in South Korea in early 2025 to support regional initiatives with strategic partners across the Asia-Pacific.
