Selangor: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has admitted to having suggested that PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar be appointed as his replacement as the new Selangor Menteri Besar. Amiruddin said that he had voiced the proposal to Nurul Izzah and it was up to her to take it up or not.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin expressed the idea that appointing Nurul Izzah could be a strategic move to avoid perceptions or stigmas related to nepotism. He mentioned discussing this suggestion directly with Nurul Izzah, emphasizing that the decision ultimately rests with her. This conversation occurred on Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Sufian Hamdan’s podcast, Keluar Sekejap, in response to a question about the possibility of Nurul Izzah contesting a Selangor state seat and assuming the Menteri Besar role.

Amirudin, who also serves as the Gombak MP, indicated his openness to taking on responsibilities at the federal level. He shared his readiness and consideration for transitioning to a federal role, demonstrating his willingness to adapt to new political challenges.
