Selangor: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has reiterated that he will remain at the helm of the state’s leadership until the end of his term. He emphasized that there will be no reshuffle in the state executive lineup during this period.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin stated, “One year left (to finish this term), and if we want to reshuffle the state executive lineup, we will need more time. So far, there is no idea or any hint of that,” he told reporters after officiating at the Selangor Economic Action Plan 2025-2035 at the foyer of Bangunan Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri (SUK) Selangor.
Amid speculations, PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar was mentioned as a potential candidate for the Menteri Besar’s post. However, Amirudin clarified that it remains a proposal requiring discussion and the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. “We are now throwing that as an option. If the option is accepted, Alhamdullillah. Otherwise, we have to look at other alternatives,” he explained.
Amirudin further noted that all executive councillors are eligible for the Menteri Besar role, citing individuals such as Najwan Mohd Najwan Halimi, Dr Mohamad Fahmi Ngah, Datuk Borhan Aman Shah, and Datuk Izham Hashim as potential candidates. He emphasized that changes to significant positions are planned methodically and not made impulsively.
He also highlighted the necessity of winning the state election as the primary condition before any discussions about future governance positions. Amirudin had previously acknowledged proposing Nurul Izzah as his replacement during a recent ‘Keluar Sekejap’ podcast, hosted by Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Sufian Hamdan, stating that the decision rests with her acceptance.
