Amirudin Demands Action on Halal Violations and Illicit Activities in Selangor

Shah Alam:Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has urged for decisive action against the operator or owner of a chicken processing plant following allegations of halal certification violations, which have raised concerns among the Muslim community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin emphasized the need for local authorities and halal certification bodies to enhance collaboration in monitoring these facilities. He highlighted the importance of conducting thorough inspections to ensure health and hygiene standards are upheld, and called for prosecution based on investigation findings.

The Selangor Menteri Besar made these remarks during an event at Sekolah Rendah Agama Integrasi (SRAI) in Section 19, accompanied by Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzil Ahmad and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Datuk Shahzihan Ahmad. The event included the distribution of 1,321 food packs under the Nutrisi Selangor (NutriSel) programme.

JAIS recently seized over 6.5 tonnes of raw chicken, valued at RM85,400, during Ops Taring Chiller at a warehouse in Puchong, after discovering that the slaughtering process did not adhere to Islamic requirements.

In addition to addressing halal violations, Amirudin issued a stern warning regarding the discovery of illicit substances at an unauthorized place of worship in South Klang. This followed raids by the Selangor Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) from October 13 to 19. He stressed that unlawful activities should not be concealed behind places of worship and urged authorities to take firm action.

On October 23, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar reported the arrest of a local man in connection with alleged drug trafficking activities at an unregistered place of worship in Klang used for drug storage.
