Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that he will instruct Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, to prepare a detailed explanation concerning the Federal Government's financial allocations for the State of Pahang. This decision follows calls from the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, for federal intervention in the state's revenue issues, particularly regarding the approval of river sand exports.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of understanding the broader economic context in which these allocations are made. He acknowledged the concerns raised by the Tengku Mahkota but highlighted that the allocation for Pahang is substantial. Anwar Ibrahim stated that while criticisms are welcome, it is crucial to consider the macroeconomic factors, current economic pressures, and existing leakages before forming conclusions.
The Prime Minister also reflected on the challenges currently facing the nation, urging citizens to respect various viewpoints and assuring that all concerns will be thoroughly examined. These comments were made in response to Tengku Hassanal's remarks following the 48th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.
