Ambulance Involved in Three-Vehicle Crash While Transporting Accident Patients

Kampung cherang meliling: A Ministry of Health ambulance transporting two patients from a previous motorcycle accident was involved in a triple-vehicle collision in Kampung Cherang Meliling, off Jalan Jertih - Pasir Akar, yesterday evening. District police chief Supt Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahman reported that the crash took place at 5.00 pm as the ambulance was heading towards Besut Hospital.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the two male patients in the ambulance had been picked up from an earlier accident in Kampung Chegar Batang, with one suffering serious injuries and the other sustaining minor wounds. The incident occurred when a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) crossed from the right shoulder and collided with the ambulance.

The collision resulted in the ambulance losing control, veering onto the left shoulder, and crashing into a parked car, which was subsequently pushed into a drain. Despite the impact, all individuals involved, including the ambulance driver and the MPV driver, were uninjured. The front of the ambulance, however, suffered damage.

Following the accident, both patients were promptly transferred to another ambulance and continued their journey to Besut Hospital, which was less than one kilometer from the crash site. The case is under investigation according to Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Mohd Rozaime called on all road users to adhere strictly to traffic rules and prioritize emergency vehicles to prevent such incidents in the future.
