Kuala Lumpur: AmBank Group, through AmBank Islamic Bhd, has approved RM70 million to Sunview Group Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd (FSSB), to part-finance the construction of a 29.99 MegaWatt ground-mounted photovoltaic solar power plant in Kedah. The project, located in Sungai Petani, was awarded by Dayasinar Energy Sdn Bhd under the Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), an initiative launched by the Energy Commission of Malaysia to accelerate corporate participation in renewable energy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the project, with a contract amounting to RM98.29 million, will be executed by FSSB. The scope of work includes design, procurement, erection, connection, commissioning, and testing, as well as the supply of equipment for the construction of a ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) solar generation facility.

In a statement today, AmBank Group managing director, business banking, Christopher Yap, said the group remains committed to strengthening its contribution to Malaysia’s renewable energy ecosystem by exploring potential financing opportunities in upcoming government programmes.

Sunview Group executive director and chief executive officer, HP Ong, noted that the financing facilities provided play an important role in supporting the rollout of its solar project under the CGPP scheme. He stated, ‘With this support, we can continue contributing to Malaysia’s energy transition and contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.’
