Bagan Datuk:Alpha ESS Malaysia Sdn Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding with DB Energy Sdn Bhd to develop a hybrid power supply system for an AI data center project in Bagan Datuk, Perak.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the partnership aims to leverage AlphaESS's battery energy storage technology and manufacturing strengths along with DB Energy's expertise in local project development and execution.

The collaboration will focus on implementing an integrated captive hybrid power supply system where battery energy storage will play a crucial role in supporting the data center's power needs. AlphaESS general manager Zoe Zhang highlighted the importance of the Malaysian market and noted that the expanding data center sector is driving demand for reliable and flexible energy infrastructure.

The memorandum was signed during the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia 2026, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from October 7 to 9. Additionally, AlphaESS introduced its new commercial and industrial battery energy storage system, the STORION-LC-TB150, at the event. The system is designed to help users optimize energy costs, manage peak electricity demand, integrate renewable energy, and ensure backup power.
