Allocation Distribution for 2026 to Local Authorities Based on Performance Evaluation: Nga Kor Ming

Kuala lumpur: The distribution of allocations to all local authorities under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government next year will be determined by performance evaluation, as stated by Minister Nga Kor Ming. The assessment will utilize a ‘traffic light’ mechanism to evaluate the progress of procurement and implementation of small-scale BP.1 projects that have been approved.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the system is currently being applied to monitor all BP.1 projects for 2025. The results of this evaluation will serve as the basis for allocation distribution in 2026. Local authorities that show ‘green’ and consistent performance will receive additional allocations. In contrast, those with ‘yellow’ performance will have their allocations reviewed, and authorities receiving a ‘red’ status will face reduced or potentially cancelled allocations. This announcement was made during the winding-up debate on the Supply Bill (Budget) 2026 at the policy stage for the Ministry of Housing and Local Government in the Dewan Rakyat.

Regarding housing matters, Nga highlighted that the 2024 Property Market Report by the Valuation and Property Services Department noted an 18.4 per cent increase in property transactions, totaling 420,525 transactions, with the value rising to RM232.30 billion. This marks the highest performance in the property industry over the last decade, showcasing a recovery attributed to initiatives by the MADANI Government. The number of completed unsold residential units has also decreased significantly from 37,000 to 23,149 units.

Nga further mentioned that Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia is running the PR1MA Housing Campaign until December 31, offering discounts up to 25 per cent, free Internet for a year, smart home device packages, and full coverage of legal fees to ease the financial burden of home purchases. As of June 30, a total of 197,311 Affordable Housing units have been completed nationwide, representing 39.5 per cent of the 12th Malaysia Plan target. Additionally, 217,371 units are under construction, and 79,192 units have received planning approval. This brings the total number of units completed and in various stages to 493,874, nearing 98.8 per cent of the target.
