Alliance With PH Requires Upholding Good Governance, Says Anwar

Kuala lumpur: Any party seeking to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Sabah state election or in forming a government must uphold good governance, eradicate corruption, and remain committed to championing the people’s welfare, said PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar, who is also the Prime Minister, expressed his openness and sincerity about potential collaborations, provided there is a clear intention and genuine commitment to developing Sabah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized the need for any potential partners to adhere to these principles, urging them to use their power to defend the people’s welfare. He made these remarks during his speech at the PKR’s Candidate Announcement Ceremony for the 17th Sabah State Election. Present at the event were prominent PKR leaders, including deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar and vice presidents Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, among others.

During the event, Anwar, who also serves as PKR president, introduced 10 candidates representing the party in the upcoming election and announced that PH will contest 23 state assembly seats. He urged the people of Sabah to scrutinize candidates and political leaders carefully to avoid being misled by false promises or political manipulation.

Anwar warned against the dangers of racial politics, which he said have caused significant harm to the nation by fuelling unnecessary hatred. He stressed the importance of political stability and cooperation between the federal and state governments to protect the welfare of Sabah’s people.

He also called on Sabah’s citizens to seize the opportunity presented by the state election to collaborate as a team in developing the state. Anwar reminded the audience that this is a chance to work together for the greater good and restore the nation’s image globally.

The Prime Minister announced that all coalition parties under PH contesting in the 17th state election would use the PH logo as their common symbol, reaffirming the coalition’s commitment to ensuring strong representation. This is aimed at maintaining good relations between the Sabah and federal governments and uplifting the dignity of the people of Sabah.

The 17th Sabah state election is scheduled to be held on November 29.
