Allegations Regarding Sri Pertiwi Housing Programme Deemed Misleading by HDC

Kuching: The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has firmly dismissed viral claims linking it to issues concerning the distribution, rental, or misuse of houses under the Sri Pertiwi Housing Programme, labeling them as untrue, baseless, and misleading to the public.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the HDC Public Relations Section clarified in a statement that the Sri Pertiwi Housing Programme projects involving HDC, through joint-venture collaborations, are still in the construction phase. This programme is an affordable housing initiative launched by the Sarawak Government, aimed at individuals with a monthly income between RM4,000 and RM10,000.

The HDC emphasized that the implementation of the Sri Pertiwi Housing Programme is open for development by either the government or the private sector, subject to the policies and approvals of the Sarawak Government. The statement was issued in response to allegations that went viral on social media, which claimed that the distribution of these houses was unfair, particularly affecting first-time homebuyers in the state, and suggested that some buyers were purchasing units for rental purposes.

In view of this, the HDC regards the spread of unverified information seriously and urges the public to cease and refrain from further circulating such claims. The corporation also advised the public to seek official information by contacting HDC at 082-444381 or by visiting their official website at hdc.sarawak.gov.my.
