All Super League Teams Submit Applications for National Club Licenses

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian Football League (MFL) acting Chief Executive Officer Mohd Shazli Shaik Mohd has confirmed that all Super League teams, alongside A1 league champions Melaka FC and runners-up Imigresen FC, have applied for their national club licenses. These applications mark an essential step for the clubs’ participation in upcoming competitions, with final approval hinging on the First Instance Body’s (FIB) decision.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Shazli stated that the decisions and confirmations regarding these applications will be known after the FIB convenes for evaluation and review on May 13. The FIB had previously granted an extension for clubs to complete their documentation for the 2024/2025 Club Licensing Cycle under the AFC CLAS licensing system. This extension, moving the deadline from April 30 to the following day, was in response to written requests from several clubs.

The push for securing national club licenses comes amid reports that several Super League teams were contemplating withdrawing from the league due to financial constraints. Among them is Perak FC, whose chairman, Datuk Seri Azim Zabidi, expressed concerns about the club’s potential withdrawal due to financial issues.
