Temerloh: A total of 300 reusable bags were distributed by Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora) to visitors of the Pekan Sehari Temerloh here today in conjunction with the ‘Bring Your Own Reusable Bag’ Campaign. Alam Flora chief operating officer Mohamad Muhazni Mukhtar said the campaign was aimed at raising public awareness of the negative impact of using plastic bags on the environment, including pollution and the destruction of ecosystems.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Muhazni emphasized the importance of promoting the use of reusable bags among the public, noting that single-use plastic bags take a very long time to decompose. The initiative seeks to raise awareness and, in the long term, encourage consistent use to help preserve the environment.
The Bring Your Own Reusable Bag Campaign is a continuation of an initiative previously carried out by Alam Flora during the Ramadan Festival in Putrajaya. Mohamad Muhazni stated that Pekan Sehari Temerloh was chosen as the campaign venue due to its recognition by the Malaysia Book of Records as the largest and longest Sunday market in the country, stretching 2.1 kilometres.
He further explained that the programme, organised in collaboration with various agencies, is not profit-oriented but focuses on creating awareness. The strategy must align with the target market segment, aiming to reach out to consumers rather than waiting for them to come forward.
Meanwhile, Temerloh Municipal Council president Rizal Mustafa expressed full support for the campaign, affirming that the council will endorse any programme that directly impacts the public.
