AKPS To Recruit Fit, Early-Retired MAF Veterans For Enhanced Border Control

Port klang: The recruitment of Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans by the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) will focus on those who opted for early retirement but maintain physical fitness and vitality. AKPS director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain emphasized the strategic move to bolster the agency's operational strength with experienced personnel.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Shuhaily highlighted that this initiative targets retirees under the short service scheme who possess the vigor needed for demanding ground duties. This decision follows a meeting with Chief of Defence Force Gen Datuk Malek Razak Sulaiman, who affirmed his commitment to supporting the AKPS, expressing gratitude for this collaboration.

Mohd Shuhaily elaborated that the deployment of these veterans would consider their service background and specific expertise. This includes potentially involving former Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) personnel for roles in maritime operations, vessel management, and territorial water enforcement. Further discussions with MAF veterans are anticipated to finalize these plans.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had previously mentioned on February 3 that around 200 MAF veterans are expected to join the AKPS in the first quarter of this year, marking a significant step in enhancing national border security.
