Bukit Kayu Hitam: The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has foiled an attempt to smuggle out 3,500 litres of subsidised diesel worth an estimated RM90,000. The operation, conducted at about 8 am yesterday at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex, was a collaborative effort with the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation led to the inspection of a suspicious-looking pole trailer lorry. During the inspection, officers discovered an additional tank hidden underneath the lorry, which was filled with an estimated 3,500 litres of diesel. This method of concealment was intended to evade detection by the authorities, involving modifications to the pole trailer lorry.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 6 and Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The lorry has been impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.
