Kuala lumpur: UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh is poised to reveal the outcome of his meeting with party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi concerning his roles in the party and government. Ahmad Zahid disclosed this development following his meeting with Dr Muhamad Akmal earlier today, prior to attending the second convocation ceremony of the UMNO Patriotic School at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Muhamad Akmal had previously stated that he would comply with the decisions made by Ahmad Zahid and Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh regarding his current positions. Dr Muhamad Akmal, who also serves as the Merlimau state assemblyman and the Melaka Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security Committee chairman, had hinted at the possibility of stepping down after his suggestion for UMNO to leave the Unity Government was met with resistance from Ahmad Zahid.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid, during his address at the convocation ceremony, emphasized that the UMNO Patriotic School is more than just a political institution. He highlighted its role in shaping minds, character, and the spirit of struggle, underlining the importance of a planned and nurtured approach to leadership and party values. The ceremony marked the graduation of 110 students, with the institution serving as a foundation for young leaders to advance within the party.
The event was attended by the party's top leadership, including deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, and Wanita UMNO chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad. The UMNO Patriotic School, established in January 2025, aims to ensure leadership continuity and develop future leaders grounded in the party's core values.
