AirAsia X Net Profit Soars to RM35.22 Million in Second Quarter

Kuala lumpur: AirAsia X Bhd’s (AAX) net profit surged to RM35.22 million for the second quarter ending June 30, 2025, a significant rise from RM4.82 million in the same timeframe last year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, despite a slight decrease in revenue to RM660.80 million from the previous RM669.14 million, AAX attributed the profit boost to higher capacity and improved seat utilization. The airline emphasized stronger operational efficiency and sustained passenger demand on key routes as critical factors behind the financial performance.

For the first half of 2025, AAX reported an increased net profit of RM85.43 million, up from RM84.94 million during the same period in the previous year. Revenue for this period rose to RM1.60 billion from RM1.58 billion.

Looking ahead, AAX currently maintains a fleet of 19 aircraft, with 18 in operation. The reactivation of the final aircraft has been postponed to the latter half of the year due to an industry-wide shortage of aircraft engines.

In the second quarter of 2025, AAX transported 935,218 passengers on 1.21 million seats, achieving an 83 percent load factor for both the quarter and the first half of the year. The board expressed confidence in achieving internal targets, citing robust forward sales and positive ancillary trends driven by anticipated strong demand in the fourth quarter.

AAX also highlighted the strategic management of foreign exchange and fuel price volatility amidst ongoing geopolitical uncertainties. The recent reduction in jet fuel prices further complements the airline’s efforts to maintain a disciplined cost structure.
